Straight from the San Diego Comic-Con comes some great new details about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. As announced by Bill Trinen, the game will introduce a unique item upgrade system. Trinen explains that while Link will begin the game with a traditional shield, he will be able to craft different ones throughout the game by combining rupees with artifacts he finds left behind by defeated enemies.
These upgrades will be available for Link’s shield, among other items he uses, which suggests his sword, bow, slingshot and whip as well. This is a great announcement as it brings a new level of gameplay to an already great game. It’s a cool idea to think that players will be able to upgrade Link’s equipment throughout the game which will make exploration and item collecting that much more important.
You can see footage of the interview GameSpot had with Trinen below. In the video you’ll see about 15 minutes of Skyward Sword gameplay footage that starts off with a boss battle. So far the game is looking good, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it. What do you think?
