How many times have you heard a company announce DLC for one of your favorite games, only to hear that it’s going to hit a different console months before the one you own? If you’re a PS3 owner, there’s a good chance you’ve heard this a lot. Time and again, Microsoft scores exclusive rights to DLC from publishers, and leaves PS3 owners wanting and waiting. Well now it’s your time to shine.
EA has announced that the PS3 will be getting “all full-blown upcoming expansion packs for the game” before they land on the Xbox 360. Starting with the first DLC, dubbed Back to Karkand, the PS3 will have a one-week head start over Microsoft’s flagship console.
I’m still completely against platform exclusivity, as it’s a win for everyone except the consumer. Most people already know what platform they’re buying for, so having the DLC come out at different times is only going to influence a small group. Thankfully it’s only a week, unlike other titles in the past who made players wait up to a year for downloadable content to arrive on their console. Yes, I’m looking at you Fallout 3.
