Battlefield 3 Fan Vs Modern Warfare 3 Dev

As release dates for the most anticipated shooters grow near, things can get a little steamy.  The developers of Battlefield 3 as well as the developers of Modern Warfare 3 are constantly looking to one-up each other in order to portray a ‘superior’ game.  As you may know, Battlefield 3 just held a massive beta consisting of 8 million testers.  Modern Warfare 3 on the other hand only held a very small beta for certain people.

A couple of days ago a Battlefield 3 fan tweeted: “over 8 million testers.. now that is a stress test, not just over a thousand like XP. @GlenSchofield #BF3”.  He was comparing beta sizes with Modern Warfare 3 and trying to show off to one of the developers Glen Schofield, who works at Sledgehammer Games. This fan even tagged Glen in the tweet to make sure he saw it!

Two hours after the tweet went out, the fan received a tweet back from Glen.  He said: “@grobdog10 We had well over a 1000. IW has years of experience with the biggest MP game ever. I surely didn’t c bugs like I saw elsewhere”.  He mentions bugs relating to the many bugs that accompanied the BF3 beta.  Today he tweeted: “Bad day yesterday. My deepest apologies 4 bugs comment. I know about new engines, been there a dozen times. No disrespect intended.” to apologize about the bug comment.  Keep it going, Devs!  I love to see the tension between games.  It makes for better games in the long run.
