The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition Unboxing

Sinking $150 dollars into something isn’t a decision that is easily made.  Especially when that decision is for the collector’s edition of an upcoming video game when you could easily spend about a third of that to just buy the game.  Recent images and information about the Skyrim Collector’s Edition loot have risen lately.

If you’re a hardcore Elder Scrolls fan, this may be an awesome collection of memorabilia for you, but if you’re on the fence about the decision, I say save your money and just buy the game.  I’m not saying that this stuff isn’t sweet, I’m just saying that the $150 price tag is not quite justifiable with this one.

Let’s get into the main components of the package.  First of all, you obviously get the playable video game.  That takes about $60 off of the $150 price tag, so let’s see if the other stuff is worth $90.  The next item you’ll notice is the 12 inch tall figurine of the dragon Alduin, the World Eater.  This is a nice item made of high quality PVC that has some nice coloring and by far my favorite item (besides the game).  Next is the 200 page art book that is awesome for collectors, but it’d only get one viewing from me and then collect dust.  Then they package in a DVD about the making of Skyrim.  I like these touches from developers, but once again it’d be a one time viewing for me.  The one functional nicknack you receive is a pretty good sized map of the playable area of Skyrim.  This could come in really handy.  If you think those last few items are worth $90, go for it!  Could turn out to be an awesome set of collectables for the right person.
