According to Bethesda there will be a day one patch issued to the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as soon as it launches this Friday. Though details won’t be released until later, we know that there are two points that the patch will focus on. The update will address “quest progression” and general stability.
When day one patches are announced, the gaming community stirs something violent. Some players can understand where and why these updates are needed while others rage about how upset they are that these games don’t release in perfection. The bottom line is, every game can release with bugs. When you look at Bethesda, you can see a pattern. Fallout 3 released with plenty of bugs, as did New Vegas. Either the developer is keeping the tradition alive, or they’ve happened to notice some hiccups since the game went gold.
Personally I don’t mind day one patches. If they are pushed to help my game run better, then bring them on. We’ll be waiting to hear more details on the patch, but for now it’s nice to know that the developers are working hard on producing a game that we can all enjoy playing.
