Tomb Raider Reboot Will Be Promoted With Geocaching Hunt For Treasure

The Tomb Raider reboot is still coming, and Square Enix along with Crystal Dynamics have teamed up with Geocachinc.com in order to help promote the game in a new and interactive way. In case you don’t know, geocaching is a modern day form of treasure hunting, where participants use GPS to reveal “geocaches” hidden across the world by fellow hunters.

Later this coming year the promotion will introduce “a series of unique location-based adventures embodying the spirit of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft’s drive to become an explorer. To develop these adventures, Crystal Dynamics will use both the traditional Geocaching.com treasure hunting format as well as Groundspeak’s latest photo-based adventure project, Geocaching Challenges.”

Throughout the promotion participants will be using a combination of the Geocaching.com app and “a photo-based adventure project” which they will call Geocaching Challenges from Groundspeak.com. I’d assume that these adventures would mimic those that Croft runs into along her journey, but there’s no detail on what these treasures participants will find are going to be.
