Mass Effect 3 Seeing Big Pre-Order Sales

According to an interview with MCV, EA has revealed that Mass Effect 3 is looking like it’s doing very well in the pre-order department. It’s receiving quite a few more pre-orders than the targets that EA has set up.

EA has listed several reasons for why the game has done as well as it has, despite the game not coming out for another week. They credit their promotional efforts for their success, which range from the mainstream like TV, cinema, online, and print ads, and continue into their more off the wall promotions, where they released weather balloons with copies of the game and attached GPS units to let people track the location in real-time where the games would be.

I would be willing to note that there are probably a few other good reasons, as well. Recently, EA had a promotional offer where if you pre-ordered ME3 through Origin, you would get a code for Battlefield 3 absolutely free. Though EA cancelled the offer after only a few short days, I would imagine that it made quite a few people who were considering pre-ordering the game pull the trigger and actually buy it. I know I was one of those people. But, of course, I would say that perhaps one of the biggest things going for the surge in ME3 pre-orders is the fact that this game is the final chapter of the Mass Effect trilogy. With gorgeous graphics, an immersive storyline, and just an overall massive galaxy to get lost in, many people just want to see what exactly happens to Commander Shepard, and Earth. I know that part of me is considering skipping work that day!
