Steam Back Online After Power Outage

For a menacing part of the day yesterday most of Steam’s services were cut short. Steam itself was down across both PC and Mac platforms for quite some time. Players couldn’t access their games or the store for anything, no matter the effort put forth on their part.

Players were deeply disgruntled, and even the number of registered users started to fall due to the site being down. In an ongoing investigation, an answer was found to the pressing question of just what happened to knock Steam out in the first place. The culprit? A massive power outage.

The surge left Steam’s servers offline for nearly two hours. The official Steam Twitter feed was keeping players updated, posting that the team was hard at work to get all services back online. Since the outage, Steam team members have been working around the clock, and the site seems to be up and running smoothly. Players shouldn’t find any issues with their games, accounts, or purchases according to the distributor. It is once again safe to venture into the gaming world.
