And The Replica Portal Gun Collectible Has Been Canceled

The National Entertainment Collectibles Association was aiming to please the hearts of many tender gamers out there by producing a replica Portal gun for us, but sadly this news has been squashed, along with its production. NECA has announced that the production on the gun has ceased, due to “issues” and they are “no longer planning on making it for the foreseeable future.” Let me wipe my eyes real quick.

The replica was set to be available for public purchase in May or June of this year, though it no longer will be. It was going to release at $130, which, according to this news, saves us some money. Still, many hearts lie broken in lieu of the announcement, and some bitter. A distributor by the name of Entertainment Earth has logged a protest with NECA, and we’ll see what comes of it.

Keep in mind that Valve doesn’t really have anything to do with this situation, but some are placing blame to them – even if it’s in a humorous manner. They say that if Valve “didn’t create such wonderful games no one would be able to promise things such as a life-size, light-up replica portal gun.” I have to say that I agree, somewhat. Still, I want one, and this needs to happen. I’m sorry to break the news to the community this way, and if you need me I’ll be duct-taping my heart back together.
