EA Shutting Down Low Population Game Servers

If you’re one of the few fans left for these EA titles, you won’t be able to play them online anymore in the near future. EA announced yesterday that they are shutting down the servers of several of their older games here in the near future.

On March 31st, Battlefield 3: Aftershock, Fantasy Safari, and Ghost Harvest will all have their servers shut down. All three of those games are iOS games. On April 13th, the following console and PC games will be taken offline: Boom Blox Bash Party, Burnout Revenge, Create, EA Sports Active 2.0, EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp, FIFA 10, The Godfather II, EA Sports MMA, Need for Speed ProStreet, The Saboteur, and Spare Parts.

All of these games have one thing in common: they all represent less than 1 percent of EA’s peak online activity. Their online policy states that they can and will shut down those servers. While there will likely be some disappointed fans out there, I think it’s safe to say that there won’t be much of an uproar over the loss of online multiplayer for these games.
