When Mass Effect 3 came out in March, many people praised it for being a great game. However, if there was one thing that people complained about, it was the apparent “weak” ending, where according to the fans, you basically got a choice of one of three similar endings.
EA and BioWare have heard the complaints, and are doing something about it. It has been announced that a free DLC pack will be released to “expand upon the events” that took place towards the end of the game. In other words, it looks like the ending as-is will be staying in the game, but then more content will follow that ending that will detail the consequences of your choice.
So, in the end, it looks like everybody will be happy. As Ray Muzyka, the BioWare co-founder said, “With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of the story arc in the Mass Effect universe.” It’s nice to see that BioWare is going to stick to their story, and yet they’re willing to show that they are not afraid to give some more answers to explain why the ending is the way it is. In fact, it almost makes you wonder if they did all this on purpose in the first place just to get people to talk about the game for a longer period of time…
As of this time, there is no release date for the DLC.
