Steam Remote Download Lets You Install Games From Anywhere

We’ve all had it happen. A friend hits you up to play some co-op after you get off of work or out of class. The only problem is that you don’t actually have the game installed on your PC. You can rush home and install it as soon as you get there, but if it’s a big game, you’re going to be stuck waiting a while. Well now if it’s a Steam game, you won’t have to worry about it.

Thanks to the new Steam Remote Downloads, you can login to your account from any computer or your smartphone, and start downloading games to your library. All you need to do is leave your computer logged into Steam, then visit your games library on any other device. Select the game you want to install, and it will begin.

I’m really happy to see this ability, even though I think I’ll only use it on rare occasions. But just think, a few years ago it was amazing to install a game without a disc. Now you don’t even need to be at your computer.
