Patch Rolls Out For Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Since Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City released players have been a bit miffed about some issues that plague the game. For instance, the A.I. wasn’t the best in any situation, and some enemies just were too insane to kill (The Hunters for instance?). An initial worry about the game was that Slant Six wouldn’t be worrying about fixing any of the game’s problems, which caused many players to just put it down. Somehow our prayers have been answered and Slant Six has just announced their release of the first official patch for the game.

The major changes in the patch focus on improved matchmaking and A.I. improvement, which is a game changer in and of itself. There has also been improved accuracy built into the patch which should help out with taking down some of those hard-to-hit enemies, though there aren’t any specifics listed as to how this has been tweaked. Finally, you can now grab items while sprinting around and enter cover as soon as you dive.

Here’s a full list of fixes introduced in the patch:

  • Improved matching. Easier to connect and added each user’s NAT info to main menu for easier troubleshooting.
  • Matchmaking from invites improved.
  • Ally AI improved
  • Enemy AI and responses improved
  • Adjusted various elements of weaponry, including ammo count, knockdown distance, weapon respawn times etc
  • Improved aiming/fire accuracy
  • Items can be picked up while dashing
  • Infinite CQC combo addressed (can’t string together endless attacks)
  • Players can take cover immediately following a dive
  • Also a fair number of bugs addressed

I don’t see any enemy health or damage adjustments which kind of irks me a bit. I mean, that one level where you fight teams of Hunters out by the gas station is just ridiculous. The Hunters will take clip after clip of damage before they fall, and if you’ve ever played the original Resident Evil titles, you’ll know they are tough, but not THAT tough. Still, though the patch is late and there’s tons of DLC out for Operation Raccoon City on the Marketplace, it’s appreciated. Maybe playing it again won’t be so frustrating now?
