The first, and totally epic-looking DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim now has an official release date as noted by Bethesda. Players will make their choice for greatness on June 26th, on the Xbox 360. As usual the 360 gets first dibs on Bethesda DLC, with the PS3 and PC following thereafter.
The new DLC features a brand new quest line, new locations, creatures, weapons, and much more. Players will have the choice to either become one of the Dawnguard or the very vampires they are seeking to eradicate. The most awesome feature about the DLC is that it manages to make vampires cool again. It adds a brand new skill set specifically for vampires, so that if you choose that path you can level up and gain certain skills. On the other hand, there has also been a new werewolf skill tree added to help balance out and maintain skills for those wanting to become one with the night.
Dawnguard isn’t far out of our reach, as it hits tomorrow. I know plenty of gamers who will be picking up this piece of content, and they should. I may have an apocalyptic view on DLC as a whole, but one company who gets it right is Bethesda. I haven’t picked up any DLC since RAAM’s Shadow for Gears of War 3, but I know this is one piece I’ll be grabbing ASAP.

UPDATE 8/2/12: Dawnguard has been released for PC, delayed for PS3.
