Super Smash Bros. Making A Return, Namco Bandai Behind The Wheel

Nintendo hosted a live stream of their Nintendo Direct press conference not long ago during which they succeeded in blowing viewers away. At this conference the company made the announcement that a new Super Smash Bros. was in the works, and Namco Bandai would be behind the whole thing. Masahiro Skaurai, the series creator, is working with the new publisher to hopefully introduce some new ideas and flair into the series.

Back at E3 2011 a new entry into the Super Smash series was announced as a Wii U and 3DS platform release. Since this original announcement we hadn’t heard anything about any Smash titles until now. The way this is being structured, compiled with this new development announcement basically means we won’t see the new title for probably some time yet.

Still, a new Super Smash Bros. title is exactly what the community needs. I think Nintendo fans have found some of their faith restored with the announcement, though I’m not too sure on how Namco Bandai is going to help continue the series. Will we see some new, not so Nintendo characters? Will there be new features with combat? I’m not really sure, but I know I could use some Super Smash time.
