Blacklight: Retribution Still Suffering From Server Issues

Blacklight: Retribution, the free-to-play online shooter from Zombie Studios just released on Steam. Through this platform the game has picked up plenty of players, though some don’t consider that a good thing. Since the game’s Steam launch veteran players (and some new Steam players alike) have been logging major complaints about the game’s performance. Players are spamming Global chat to the point that it bogs the game down enough to make you quit, items won’t unlock or activate properly, and most importantly the game is still suffering from server issues across the board.

Last week we posted about the game’s initial release, and for a while it looked like the servers had gotten ironed out. More recently, though, players have been logging many more complaints about issues plaguing them in-game. Last night I got on for a while to jump into some matches, and after about an hour and a half or so I was forced to quit. The main issue players are seeing, especially in the Proving Grounds (levels 1-10) servers are that at some point during the match everyone gets reset to level 1, their names all change to “Player” and they earn no XP or GP after the match ends. This can happen in the middle of a match, or right before you’re about to end one. No matter how well you did you won’t earn anything after the match is over. So when this happens, you pretty much would be well to just leave the match and try to start a new one.

I’ve logged off and back on when this happens and it still continues to work its way into at least one match I play. Other players are seeing it too and it’s becoming a frustrating issue. There hasn’t been any news or posts on when this would be getting fixed, but Zombie is working on the issue. The forums have a hotlist of issues that the devs are cracking down on, but nothing outright mentions this issue as of yet.

I really hope Zombie can get the game ironed out and running properly soon. It’s annoying to players when we have to just quit the game due to errors we keep receiving. Though it’s irritating, the developers are good at working to make the game playable A.S.A.P. As soon as some information on a fix comes our way we’ll update.
