Let’s be honest, sometimes the worst part about games is the fact that they cost money. Throughout the year you’ll find yourself wanting to purchase $60 game after $60 game, and there comes a point where you just can’t afford it anymore. Luckily for fans of the Command & Conquer series, you’ll be able to hold on to a little bit more of your cash and still enjoy the latest game in the series.
EA announced that Command & Conquer: Generals 2 will be going free-to-play, and will be based completely online though a digital platform created for the franchise in particular. EA also announced that Generals 2 is being renamed, to just Command & Conquer. The game and platform should be coming out sometime in 2013.
What’s more, this platform might not be limited to just Generals. EA VP Jon Van Caneghem also stated that other Command & Conquer games, like Red Alert and Tiberium could show up on the new platform. I’ll admit, I’ve never played any of the Command & Conquer games, but I think I just might have to start whenever Command & Conquer comes out!
