Sleeping Dogs Will Be Optimized For PC

When a game is released on multiple platforms, PC gamers will sometimes feel a bit shafted. After all, PCs can generally display much higher graphics than their console brethren. Also, a lot of people now have multiple monitors for gaming, so it’s always a disappointment when developers don’t take these things into consideration. Well for those out there looking forward to Sleeping Dogs on the PC, don’t worry, because they have plenty in store for you.

United Front Games has announced that they are working on some special features for the PC. One of the biggest is the high-resolution texture pack. This promises to not only make objects close at hand look stunning, but they are also rendering far off objects in greater detail, to give you a better sense of scale in the game. You’ll also find high quality shadow filters and support for Screen Space Ambient Occlusion.

Obviously, to run all of this, you’ll need a machine that can handle it. UFG is making it easier to do so by making the most of the hardware you do have. This means performance enhancements for dual and quad core CPUs, and SLI/Crossfire. Finally, the game will be optimized for multiple monitor configurations and 3D. If you’re wondering what sort of machine you’ll need, here’s the minimum and recommended specs:

Minimum requirements

• OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
• Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz or Althon X2 2.4 GHz
• RAM: 2GB
• Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher
• Graphics card memory: 512 MB
• Sound card: DirectX compatible sound card
• Hard drive: 15 GB

Recommended system requirements

• OS: Windows 7 64-bit
• Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
• RAM: 4GB
• Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950
• Graphics card memory: 1 GB
• Sound card: DirectX compatible sound card
• Hard drive: 15 GB

The minimum specs aren’t too bad, so most people should be able to play the game. However, you’re definitely going to need some good hardware to run this at max. Oh, and if you pre-order the game on Steam you’ll get a set of Sleeping Dogs TF2 items. Because hats.
