Ubisoft has revealed early this morning that it has plans to release a new title for the iOS and Android platforms, a strategic simulation by the name of Utopia. The game will allow players to build their own colony and watch over it for 150 years, spanning the time of the first colonization of America to the time period predominately featured in Assassin’s Creed III. For those that don’t have smart phones who feel a bit isolated by the introduction of a new spin-off, Utopia will not sync or affect your Assassin’s Creed III game, but Utopia will build on the involvement of the Assassins in the new world and the affect they had on the area and the thirteen colonies leading up to the Revolutionary war.
Utopia will allow interaction with friends through competitive and cooperative means, allowing you to pit your assassins against a friend or to team them up to achieve an assigned mission. Ubisoft claims that this game is to expand on the demand for a more accessible game for non-gamers, allowing players to immerse themselves more in the expansive narrative of Assassin’s Creed rather than the gameplay, which may not be for every player.
No set release date has been announced beyond “Winter 2012”, but for those interested, the first shots have been released on Eurogamer at the source link below.
