BioWare Lists Plans For The Future As Its Founders Retire

Yesterday in a slightly shocking announcement founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk announced their retirements from BioWare. Now, before you start thinking that they were forced out of the BioWare by EA, you should know that that doesn’t appear to be the case. Instead, it seems that the two of them are just done with making video games, as their next big projects in life are going to have nothing to do them. Zeschuck is looking to create a web-based interview show called “The Beer Diaries”, while Musyka is looking to help young entrepreneurs impact the world by mentoring and investing in their projects.

So, with the founders leaving the company, where does that leave BioWare? Luckily, it seems that the company can only go up, at least according to general manager Aaryn Flynn. You already know about how Dragon Age 3 is coming out soon, but according to Flynn that’s not the only thing coming out of BioWare here in the near future. Mass Effect 3 is still getting more single and multiplayer DLC, including “Omega”, which is due to come out “in the Fall”. More importantly, it looks like BioWare isn’t done with Mass Effect galaxy either, as he also said that they have plans for a whole new game as well.

Perhaps the biggest thing, in my opinion, to come out of Mr. Flynn is the fact that BioWare is working on an original project, set in a completely different universe. It’s not know about what kind of game it is, but it’s apparently being developed with “all new gaming technology.” My guess is that BioWare is developing this new game for the next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
