About 3 weeks ago I decided to build myself a new system. Now while my old system was in decent shape, it had begun to show its age, and so I went ahead and picked up one of those new Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs (an i5 3570K to be exact) to plug into my MSI G45-Z77 motherboard, along with 8 GBs of DDR3 1600 RAM. This doesn’t include the NVidia GTX 560 Ti GPU that I already had on my older system. In short, you would think that I could play just about any game out there on maximum settings, right?
Well, normally you’d be right. But according to these specs for the PC version of Far Cry 3 my computer isn’t quite up to the task to getting the most out of the game graphically. According to the stats posted on Joystiq.com if you want to match the “Hi-Performance” specs for the game you’ll need at least 8 GBs of RAM as well as either an NVidia GTX 680 or an AMD Radeon HD7970, and either an i7-2600K or an AMD Bulldozer FX4150.
Of course, that’s just to get the absolute best performance. But even the recommend spec is a bit high, requiring a GTX 480/Radeon HD5770 for the graphics card. Lets just say that had I kept the old system and I decided I wanted to play this game I might have a bit trouble getting it to play pretty well! With that being said, here are all the specs you’ll need for this game:
