Terraria Making The Jump To Consoles Early Next Year

Terraria has some similarities to Minecraft, and no one is shy about pointing them out. It’s a game where you dig holes, collect ore, build structures, and fight off monsters. One of the main differences, however, is that it’s a 2D platformer where Minecraft is a first-person 3D adventure. Still, like how Minecraft made a move to the Xbox 360 Terraria is coming up behind as it’ll be moving to consoles in early 2013.

Andrew Spinks, Terraria’s creator is overjoyed at the move. “I can’t say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3,” he said. “To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It’s always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction.”

Terraria has sole over 1.5 million copies on the PC, and players aren’t letting it stop there. The game’s full of fun things to do and friends can team up to tackle all manners of ghouls and ghosties in the night while mining for treasure. I’m curious how the game will work when ported to consoles, though I imagine that it will be a lot of fun on the big screen. I’m actually looking forward to it, are you?
