Warner Brothers is teaming up with Cryptozoic Entertainment to bring Lord of the Rings fans a brand new board game based off of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Game designerReiner Knizia has leant his talents to create a board game that explores the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the 13 dwarves from the upcoming film.
That’s right, the game is based off of the film that’s set to release later this year. The game will be available in early 2013, going to local game stores everywhere. One to four players can take part in the journey, searching for lost treasures. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be a cooperative experience where players will need to emply teamwork to survive. You’ll encounter a large trek through Middle Earth, battling treacherous creatures and overcoming obstacles that stand in your way.

It looks like we’ll get the film later this year and then a game to supplement the experience. Cryptozoic has a way of making intuitive and fun games, and I am sure this will be another great one. Looks like I’ll be sharpening my blades until early next year!
