Dead Island Riptide Will Release In April 2013
Deep Silver has announced that the new Dead Island Riptide title will be available on April 23rd of next year for North America and April 26th worldwide. There will be two different versions of the game that players can already pre-order, those being the “Special Retailers Edition” and the “Pre-Order Edition.” Each one of these comes with their own special content and will release at the same time.
Dead Island Riptide is a direct sequel to the original Dead Island game. It offers a new character, new skills, multiplayer features, and some special defense missions. This title is being prepped to bring more to the table when it comes to multiplayer where the original game was lacking a bit.
Wondering what the deal is with the two different versions? Don’t worry; we’ve got the info on what you’ll get with each one:
- Pre-Order Edition: players will get an exclusive pack of weapon mods that allow much more ways to deal with the undead inhabitants on Palanai Island
- Special Retailers Edition: this version contains the weapon mods as well, but it will also host a unique alternate character skin that can’t be picked up anywhere else, and it will only be shipped to selected retailers
I had a lot of fun with Dead Island, even despite the issues that plagued the game in the beginning. The developers are making moves in the right direction when it comes to open-world zombie action, and I think with a little more care and tweakage they can accomplish something well worth playing. We’ll have to wait and see what they’ve got planned for us in Dead Island Riptide when it releases next year.
