If you have a PS Vita but are disappointed in the lack of deals that the PS3 gets, you’re in luck! Starting next week, on November 19th, the PS Vita will be getting a software update (v2.00) that will be adding PlayStation Plus functionality to the system. If you have PlayStation Plus for the PS3 already then you’ll be glad to know that you already have PlayStation Plus for the Vita.
One of the benefits of PlayStation Plus is the free games that Sony gives you as long as you maintain your subscription. To start with, the Vita will have six games in its Instant Game Collection: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! and the PSP game Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. Though Sony hasn’t announced any deals yet, I would guess that when Plus goes live for the Vita there will undoubtedly be some discounts available for other Vita games, exclusive to Plus members.
Of course, that’s not the only thing coming in the v2.00 update. Besides the addition of Plus, the PS Vita will be getting other features including an email app, the ability to transfer content wirelessly between your PC and Vita, overall improvements to the browser, and even the option to watch YouTube videos in 1080p where applicable. Overall, there’s quite a bit going on in this update!
