Tomb Raider To Contain Multiplayer

Some franchises are renowned for their multiplayer. You’ve got your Call of Duty’s, your Battlefields, your Contras, and your Tekkens. Now it looks like Tomb Raider is trying to get in on the multiplayer action as well.

After some speculation last week, it was confirmed on Friday by Karl Stewart, the Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director, that the new Tomb Raider will indeed contain multiplayer. It’s unknown as to what the multiplayer will entail exactly. All that is known is that the details will be in the next issue of the Official Xbox Magazine.

Having multiplayer in Tomb Raider can make things pretty interesting, I’ll admit. I think it’d be pretty neat to see them go for some sort of co-op mode, where one player has to traverse down one corridor to open up a door for the other player, while the other player has to get some sort of key or something for the first player. Of course, it’s also possible that Crystal Dynamics might half-ass it for all we know and put in some sort of generic “Capture the Treasure” thing where you capture the, well, treasure. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!
