Valve Is Testing Dota 2 On Tablets, Though Don’t Expect To See It There Anytime Soon

Dota 2 is one of those games where timing is everything. Being off when pressing a key by a fraction of a second can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why I was surprised to hear that Valve has been dabbling on putting Dota 2 on tablets, where you don’t have the benefit of a keyboard and mouse to help you out.

Unfortunately the results haven’t been spectacular. According to Gabe Newell in a short interview with Kotaku, Valve has been working on getting Dota 2 running on some tablets, but that it “ended up being kind of a disappointment.” It seems to be that most, if not all of the tablets just aren’t powerful enough to run Dota 2 at the level of performance Gabe wants.

Not all hope is lost, however! According to Gabe, “tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we’ll get the kind of performance we want and other game developers want in the near future.” So if you’re the kind of person who wants to play something more substantial than Angry Birds or Words With Friends on your tablet, keep your chin up because before too long you just might be able to play some really good games while you’re out and about. Just keep in mind that the tablet you have now will probably not be up to snuff!
