CommonCon 2013 Taking Place This Weekend

Video and computer games are great fun, but let’s be honest, after awhile you’re eyes get tired of the strain of looking at a bright screen. And while you might be tempted to go more “old-school” and play a board game or tabletop RPG, you might not know where to turn to! Luckily for those of you in the southern Indiana region, you’ll be glad to know that this Saturday and Sunday The Common Room is hosting the first ever CommonCon at the Indiana University Memorial Union!

There are a ton of events going on during the convention, including two full days of organized Pathfinder Society play, four Magic the Gathering tournaments, and a full day of board gaming goodness, where you can learn a game from various local gamers who just want to teach you how to play some awesome games. Different games include the Battlestar Galactica board game, and a personal favorite the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures game. And if you’re more of a Magic the Gathering fan, there will be two tournaments each day: a standard tournament from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM both days, and a Triple Ravnica booster draft from 7 PM to 11 PM both days. There will be a $10 flat fee for participation in each booster draft, but that’s a pretty good deal!

CommonCon is also offering raffle prizes, thanks to donations of books from Paizo Publishing and Mind’s Eye Society! If CommonCon sounds like it would be a good time for you, then just come on down to Bloomington, Indiana! There’s a small $6 charge for one day, or $11 for both days. You can check out all the details for the convention right here! We hope to see you there!
