One of the big announcements back at CES was made by someone you might not have expected: Valve. We’ve known for a while that the company has been looking into entering the hardware market, but it was still a surprise to hear them make a formal announcement (after all, we’ve been waiting how long for a formal announcement for Half-Life 3?).
[singlepic id=1285 w=250 h=166 float=left]We gave you the rundown on all of the details when it was first announced. However, during the show I stopped by and chatted with David Politis, CMO of Xi3. He walked us through what the company has been offering, along with a few tidbits about Piston.
Sadly, we weren’t able to pry much information out of him, as their box is still in development. It was interesting to hear that they had Crysis running on the box at over 30FPS. Sure, Crysis might not be the industry benchmarking standard anymore, but it’s still good to hear that this tiny machine can keep up with that demanding game.
