Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us looks to be a pretty awesome game. Centering around a pair of survivors, Joel and Ellie, the game looks to be a bit of fresh air in a gaming industry that has been a bit stagnant for the last few years, especially on the big consoles. Unfortunately, however, that breath of fresh air is going to come a little later than planned.
Neil Druckmann, creative director of Naughty Dog, announced yesterday that The Last of Us has been delayed from its original May 7th date. Citing a need to make sure that the game was “up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards”, the game has been delayed about 5 weeks to June 14th. I can’t say I blame them for wanting to be sure that the game is a good as it can possibly be.
And really, when you think about it 5 weeks to make sure a game is polished isn’t that bad of a wait. After all, it could be worse. Naughty Dog could be doing something like Ubisoft, and delaying the game only so they can port it to a couple of other systems and release them all at the same time.
