It’s no secret that the PS Vita has struggled for a bit. With a high price point and a low amount of games available for it at launch, it’s been a bit of a disappointment, despite the fact that it’s a pretty powerful little machine. However, it appears that things might finally be looking up for Sony and the Vita.
It appears that the price drop Sony announced and implemented in Japan for the Vita is working. According to the Japanese site 4gamer, the Vita sold over 63 thousand units last week. This is more than what the 3DS and 3DS XL sold combined, which was only 61 thousand. In fact, it’s even much better than the Wii U, which only sold a little over 9 thousand units!
Something else that you might be able to attribute to the Vita’s recent success is the launch of the game Soul Sacrifice, which moved over 92 thousand copies last week. The question still remains, though, will the Vita start gaining some success here in the US anytime soon? I think the only way Sony is going to move some units is if they drop the price a bit across the board like they did in Japan. Who knows, maybe after seeing how much better the unit is selling now maybe that’ll be happening soon enough?
