Besides the apparently “BETRAYAL” that many fans felt when the XCOM shooter was first announced, 2K Games didn’t let that portion of the fanbase get them down. With that being said, however, they still have had plenty of trouble getting the game to release. Earlier this month, however, we did hear some news that the game was still out there, but it was looking like it might have been undergoing some serious changes as the game’s site and YouTube videos all went down, and it was rumored that it may be getting some sort of name change.
Well it looks like everything we heard was true. XCOM has been renamed, and when the third-person squad based tactical shooter is launched it’ll be known as The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. The game is a prequel to the XCOM series, set in the 60’s as President Kennedy creates the task force to root out any Soviet infiltration, only to find out that the incidents are instead of a “far more extraterrestrial origin”.
If you’re an XCOM fan and you can’t wait to see what this game has in store, then you’ll be glad to know you won’t have to wait long. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be released on August 20th of this year, on the PS3, the Xbox 360, and the PC. It’ll certainly be interesting, that’s for sure…
