With E3 right around the corner, we’re starting to hear whispers of games and whatnot that’ll be announced and showcased at the event. With the big 3 console makers, you can usually expect to see an epic press conference showing off why you should be excited for that company. However, venerable Nintendo isn’t doing that this year, instead opting to showcase their big stuff behind closed doors and through their Nintendo Direct live stream series.
So it only makes sense to have a big Nintendo Direct even right before E3, in an attempt to steal a little thunder from the competition while simultaneously making sure that your news isn’t buried underneath everything else that’s going on. Nintendo of America’s Twitter made the announcement that they’ll be discussing the new Smash Bros. game for the Wii U. They are also planning on discussing a “3D Mario game”, a new Mario Kart, as well as other Wii U titles.
With the Wii U treading water right now, Nintendo is gonna have to pull out all the stops if they’re going to convince people to buy it over Sony’s or Microsoft’s latest creations. Super Smash Bros. is a good start, to say the least, but considering the fact that this iteration is being developed by Namco Bandai and Sora Ltd., it’s possible that some people might not appreciate the new direction that the game may be going with. We’ll just have to wait and see.
