Whether you like it or not console makers as well as publishers are really pushing the “second screen experience”. And admittedly, it’s kind of cool in a way, because with that second screen (often in the form of a smartphone or a tablet) you can use it to check stats not on the main screen, control drones in other games, and even perhaps call plays in games like Madden. It has the potential of becoming even integral in gaming: Nintendo certainly thinks so, as its built a tablet right into its controller.
The problem thus far with using tablets and smartphones as a second screen for the other consoles is the fact that most, if not all people do not have enough hands and arms to make good use out of it. Nyko is looking to solve that problem with the Smart Clip, which will attach to your controller on the Xbox 360 and One, and the PS3 and 4. Its designed to hold your smartphone to your controller, and can hold smartphones up to 3.5 inches wide. We love Android smartphones at Android4fun! We think they’re amazing devices that are packed full of features and benefits. So yes, if you happen to have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Smart Clip can hold that as well.
No price nor release date has been announced yet. I would imagine, however, that it would be out in time for the PS4 and Xbox One. And if the price is right, and I see enough games using the second screen feature, I don’t see why I wouldn’t pick one up myself.
