For only having 14 episodes Firefly has made a hell of a mark on people everywhere. Despite being over a decade since its short-lived single season the people are still in love with the show and its subsequent movie, Serenity, and still lament to this day that Fox screwed over the show before it even began. Now there’s going to be an official Firefly video game, though it might disappoint some folks.
Fox Digital Entertainment revealed at the San Diego Comic Con yesterday that they are making a “social online role-playing game” based off of Firefly, and is due to be released in the summer of 2014. The disappointing part comes from the fact that this game is being developed for iOS and Android based devices. After all, there’s no doubt that many of us would love to get a full MMO experience that you would get out of a full PC version, where you can customize your ship, crew, and your own character in order to fly around, having adventures.
Still, a smartphone game might not be too bad, especially since it’ll likely be quite a bit cheaper than a PC game. In Firefly Online, you’re the captain of a ship, and you need to recruit crew members and lead missions. The game also features cross-platform play and customizable ships, which is handy if you’re the type of person who wants to play as a trader in this game.
