Though it had a strong debut the title was unable to maintain those numbers but, as they say, in this business the spoils go to the runner who goes the longest not who sprints the fastest.
Which is a complicated way of saying that Pokémon Go’s survival in the often fickle smartphone games niche is impressive to say the least.
And with so many years under its belt and a huge, dedicated community of Pokémon hunters out there in the world, it’s safe to say that Pokémon Go has a healthy future ahead of it (especially when considering the upcoming Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu games for the mainline Nintendo Switch home-portable hybrid console).
So when something new comes to the game, as you can imagine, gamers are eager to know about it and rumors of a new gen 4 evolution being added to the game have the community in a peak of joy. Forbes is reporting that these new gen 4 evolutions could debut as early as next week but nothing is confirmed as of press though the person who brought the world this information has proffered reliable details about upcoming events in the past. There will be a huge “kick off” event to mark the generation 4 evolutions similar to the past events that marked the debut of the babies and ghosts in previous updates.
The new update will bring gen 4 evolutions to previously existing Pokémon as well as a new in-game item to support evolutions called “elemental stones.” In addition the game will feature a few tweaks to core gameplay as well as the release of the generation 3 Pokémon into the wild. Among the tweaks expected include increased XP and an upping of the frequency of evolved Pokémon that can be caught in the wild. In a nod to Pokémon hoarders, the total Pokémon capacity for each player is going to be raised to 2000. In addition to the above the game will debut some new in-game events as well as raids. There are quite a few Pokémon that make up generation 4 which means that their arrival to the world of Pokémon Go might be a gradual rather than sudden process.
Their addition to the game, however, will bring a huge amount of the handheld games’ bestiary to Pokémon Go and should give older players that have fallen away an incentive to return to the game. Of course, as a mobile game, Pokémon Go will feature more items in its cash shop to help with just such a return but everything in the game can also be obtained through continued play such that older players need not worry about having to shell out a ton of money at the cash shop to enjoy all of the benefits of the latest Pokémon Go updates.
