Though Sony has caught up in many ways and Nintendo is still finding the modem, Microsoft’s Xbox Live service continues to innovate and offer more reasons to stay subscribed.
Games with Gold is just one of those programs.
One of the biggest benefits to owning an Xbox One and being a member of Live is that you get free games with a Gold Level membership every month.
Of course, with a shifting selection of games, gamers are eager to know what new titles are in store for the coming month.
And if you’re in search of that information then you’re in luck as Microsoft has just released its list of Games with Gold for August 2018.
Without further ado, the Games with Gold for August are:
Forza Horizon 2 Standard – 10th Anniversary Edition
For Honor Standard Edition
Dead Space 3
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
We know everyone will be downloading Forza Horizon 2 but Disney’s Epic Mickey 2 is also a great game that didn’t get enough attention when it came out in 2012. A little bit challenging by modern standards, Epic Mickey 2 adds some platforming spice to a list that is pretty heavy on first-person experiences.
For those who have yet to experience it, Dead Space 3 is an amazingly visceral science fiction horror game. Premiering all the way back in 2013 for the Xbox 360, the experience has aged gracefully and is a must-download for fans of the survival horror genre.
If you haven’t checked out For Honor this August’s Games with Gold is the perfect chance to do it. Playing as warriors from various historical epics, this game mixes fighting games with first-person shooter excitement for an experience that is both unique and compelling. Though the graphics look a bit aged the gameplay remains the draw here.
Lastly, we can’t leave out the real highlight of this list: Forza Horizon 2.
It’s hard to imagine that the game came out in 2014 but, at four years old, it is still one of the best racing games of all time. We know gamers often gripe about the “value” they’re getting with the Games with Gold program but it’s hard to deny Forza Horizon 2’s status as a cut above the rest.
An open-world racing game, this time set in southern France and northern Italy, the Forza games always deliver when it comes to graphics, speed, and gameplay. A fine melding of the simulation found in Gran Turismo with the arcade spirit of yesteryear, the Forza series is often the best game for both casual and serious racing genre fans. At a price of free, we’re sure many people who have not yet tried the series will be sure to pick it up during August 2018’s Games with Gold offering.
Naturally, Microsoft is giving incentives to download all of the games on this list. Downloading all of the titles will add 4000 points to the user’s gamerscore. How’s that for a bargain?
