Gears of War 3 The Fastest Xbox 360 Exclusive Title Pre-Ordered To Date
This just in: Gears of War 3 has just surpassed 1,000,000 pre-orders. This is big news considering the amount of time the game has had to rack up this impressive amount of reserves.
Microsoft has confirmed that this title is the “fastest pre-ordered Xbox exclusive title to reach this milestone in the history of the platform.” This means that Gears of War 3 has officially knocked out Halo. Sorry fanboys.
Epic Games has also released the stats pertaining to the Gears 3 beta that just recently closed. Here’s a look at the numbers:
- 1.29 million people participated in the beta
- 145 different countries participated in the beta
- 249 years worth of matches played
- More than 11 million matches completed
- More than 927 million kills recorded
- More than 131 million executions performed
- More than 23 million deaths by chainsaw
- Nearly 23 BILLION bullets fired
- 460 million ribbons and 294 million medals earned
- 435 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Thrashball Cole skin to use in the retail game when it launches in September
- 234 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Gold Retro Lancer to use in the retail game when it launches in September
Gears of War 3 is still set to release this September, and by then I am sure it will rack up even more pre-orders. Cliff Bleszinski noted that the beta “was a fun way to give players an early taste of our game,” and that the company now has the feedback needed to “polish Gears of War 3 and ensure it’s truly the culmination of the trilogy we promised the fans.” How many of you out there are excited for the game?
