Square Enix CEO Says Final Fantasy 14 “Greatly Damaged” The Brand

At a recent press conference, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada stated that the Final Fantasy brand has been “greatly damaged” by the release of Final Fantasy 14. While we all already knew this, it’s nice to know that the suits are owning up to it.

They have set in motion a ton of reform work, which basically entails re-doing the entire game. Hopefully, this will come out brand-new and awesome in the future, but I can’t say that I’m going to hold my breath for it.

The launch of the game happened last year on PC, and was a horrid pile of rubbish. There was no need to bring it to any other platform as it was soon after put into “reform mode”. While there hasn’t been a subscription fee put to use on it just yet, it seems as though this one may just keep it’s 100% discount, as the current trend with MMOs is to make everything free as the air you breathe.
