Possible Fix For Batman: Arkham City Data Corruption And Freezing

Many reports have been surfacing about a certain error occurring on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Batman: Arkham City.  The reports say that the game will occasionally freeze up when the system searches for downloadable content.  This results in an error saying the game save was corrupted and must be deleted.  Basically, you’ll lose all progress if you delete it.

A possible fix was recently found on the Playstation 3, but it may also work on the Xbox 360.  It is not guaranteed to work every time, but some gamers have had the fortune of success.  Here are the steps that may make your journey through Arkham City a little less stressful.

  1. Exit the game
  2. Go to your Batman: Arkham City save data and save it to a USB, PS+, or another User (PS+ is proven to work)
  3. Delete the corrupted data from the console
  4. Copy the data from the USB, PS+, or other User back to the console

The save data should be fine and uncorrupted upon bootup.   The latest patch is rumored to not fix the issue, so a fix may be in the near future.  Also, it’s reported that users with the Catwoman DLC installed have the problem less than people without the DLC.
