Tuesdays Tech Tips Of The Week: Having A Great Gaming Setup With Out Breaking The Bank
Having an impressive gaming setup is always good, but giant screens, a big subwoofer and high end peripherals are not always the best route. In today’s Tech Tips I’m going show how you how to game it up without over spending.
Tip 1: Just because it’s expensive does not mean it’s the best. Many companies over price their products just because they can. I generally like to recommend smaller companies for peripherals, they tend to have better more quality products for the sole reason that they are a small company so they need to make a better product to stand out. I personally love buying my gaming desk mats from Aim Monster.
Tip 2: Use wired when possible. By taking away wires companies are adding dollars. Almost every wireless accessory has a wired counterpart that generally cost a good amount less. I also like wired as opposed to wireless for the reliability it offers.
Tip 3: A good Sound system does not have to be new. Very little has changed in the past 15 years in the way of audio equipment. The sound system I have on one of my computers is made by Sony and is about a year old if that. It has two desktop speakers and a fairly good subwoofer; I paid $10 for it at GoodWill. It was missing a power adapter that was available at your local electronics store. All in all I spent around $22 dollars on sound system retailing for $80. So always be on the lookout at your local thrift store for good electronics, you’ll be surprised what you find.
Tip 4: Thrift store cables. I haven’t bought a cable from an electronics store in months, every so often I will make the rounds to my local thrift stores and buy up all the good cables. I have gotten a 6ft HDMI cable for $3.99, VGA cables for 1-2 dollars, not to mention all the component and composite you will ever need. There’s also plenty of psu cables that you can find online.
