According to information obtained from a Japanese retailer, Sony plans to release a new model to the PS3 that will aesthetically change the platform. The new model, the CECH-3000B, will replace the current 320GB PS3 systems once the stock is fully depleted. Pricing will stay where it sits, but some minor changes will be made to the system.
So, there’s nothing too special about the new model, but for any hardware buff out there this is nice news. I still have the 80GB fat PS3, and it works for me just fine. If something were to happen though, knock on wood, the 3000B would be a nice upgrade. I could always use more HDD space.
Given the announcement of the change, what do you think? Is Sony just trying to out old stock? Either way, the company is actively making improvements. Though they may not be the biggest in the industry, they are still pushing forward.
