Minecraft Sells Over 4 Million Copies, Leading Up To Minecon

In just two weeks, tons of people will be flocking to Sin City to attend the first ever Minecraft Convention. This convention is in place to celebrate the release of the final version, which has been in development for quite a while now. There’s even more to celebrate according to Gamasutra, as they report that the PC game has sold over four million copies.

Selling four million copies for any game is a feat in itself, but considering that Minecraft is still in its beta version makes this even more impressive. Players have been digging into the game, literally, and it’s been highly successful. The original beta release for Minecraft arrived in 2009, and it will have been two full years running before the final version makes it to fruition.

You can still buy the game in its beta, and it’s available for just $21.95. I definitely recommend it if you’ve not had the chance to make it on the Minecraft cart train yet. Of course, when the final version releases the beta will be fully updated, with no extra costs. This is a great time for Mojang, and we wish them congratulations for their most amazing game!
