League Of Legends To Release Spectator Mode In Next Patch

After being in beta for a good long time, Riot Games will finally be adding the Spectator Mode into full release. Set to come out in the next patch, the Spectator Mode will be loaded with features, such as the ability to jump to different points in the action with their Timeshift control scheme. No word, however, on when the patch is due to come out.

The Spectator Mode will let you watch two different kinds of games: games that your friends are playing, and what they called “Featured Games”, where you’ll be able to watch some of the very best League of Legends play in real time, without having to resort to a pesky live stream! There is no limit on how many people can watch a game as it’s going on.

What if you want to watch a game, but you have no idea what to focus on? Well, Riot Games wanted to make sure you’re covered! As part of the Spectator Mode, they’ve also added a Directed Camera, which will “guide your perspective, automatically selecting the most interesting action on the field.” You can even have the Directed Camera focus on a specific player, and by pressing the space bar you can jump to other events as they happen. I know that I’ll be using the Directed Camera a lot here in the near future, as I study what some of the top players do in the game. So, with that being said, I think it’s almost time to get out the popcorn and soda!
