Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut To Be Released On June 26th!

You’re playing through Mass Effect 3, killing the different Husks and whatnot, and you make it to the ending. You’re expecting a huge boss fight, perhaps against Harbinger himself, when all of a sudden you’re standing face to face with that kid you’ve been seeing in your dreams throughout the whole game, and you’re told that you have a choice of A, B, or C of what you can do. Well, you make your choice, and that’s when you realize that for the most part, they’re all pretty similar.

It was this situation that many gamers found themselves in when the game was released, and boy, were they pissed! People were talking about boycotting EA and BioWare, and in some areas, lawsuits were being drawn up. So, it’s no surprise that BioWare announced that they would be revisiting the ending, and releasing an Extended Cut DLC that will help explain what actually happened in the ending.

Well, that wait for that improved ending is about over! BioWare announced last Friday that the Extended Cut DLC will be available for free to PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 owners starting June 26th. The new content will, of course, start during the end part of the game, when Shepard and Co. assault the Cerberus base. According to BioWare, it looks like the ending will contain many more differences as well, so that it feels like the choices you’ve made starting all the way in the original Mass Effect will actually have an impact on what happens in the ending. Though I didn’t care one way or the other about the ending, I will say that I’m looking forward to playing the extended ending a bit. A bit of warning, however: the file size for the new DLC comes in at a whopping 1.9 GBs! Ouch!
