3D Realms Is Working On A New Game and They Want Your Help

In the video game industry things don’t always work out. You could have a great idea for a game, work on it tirelessly, spend tons of resources, and watch the whole project wash down the drain in the end. That’s sort of what happened with 3D Realms and their work on Duke Nukem Forever. Gearbox Software swooped in and picked up the project, and in the end they were able to take it to fruition despite many fans being disappointed. After the project tanked, 3D Realms went silent for a while, but now they’re back and working on a brand new game. What’s more is that they want your help to finish it.

Their new project is called Earth No More, a first-person shooter that looks to draw inspiration from science fiction alien movies. This title was originally supposed to release back in 2009, but development got shelved for it. This was partly attributed to by the fact that the company got sued for supposedly stealing the game’s concept from a company by the name of Cinemagraphix Entertainment. The company pitched their game, Earth No More, to 3D Realms who passed on it originally, and shortly thereafter they announced this game, one with the same name.

Despite all of that 3D Realms is still going through with making Earth No More a reality. They’ve just introduced a crowd-funding site for the title and are asking for your money to bring it to life. The site’s called Gambitious, which operates differently than Kickstarter as investors can buy equity in their supported project. If you feel like donating some of your cash to get the game up and running, go ahead and jump over to the site.

I don’t really know how well this will go, especially given the fact that the company has already been sued once over the title. On top of that players are still apprehensive of what the company really has to bring to the table. Will we end up getting another Duke Nukem Forever? It’s way too early to say. My guess is that we won’t be seeing this game hit shelves for a long while.
