Total War: Rome II Release Date And Collector’s Edition Content Revealed!

Rome: Total War was released all the way back in 2004, and it was a hit. People everywhere loved the game, but for years the fans remained disappointed as years passed without any word on a sequel. Well it’s been 9 years, but now the sequel is on its way as Sega has announced that Total War: Rome II will be going on sale on September 3rd.

Of course, pre-ordering the game will net you a nice little bonus: the Greek States Culture DLC Pack. In this DLC pack you’ll get 3 more playable factions, Epirus, Athens, and Sparta. The DLC pack will be made free to anybody who pre-orders the game, and will add quite a bit to Rome II as each faction will “have their own unique units, buildings, missions and win conditions alongside a distinct tech tree and, in the case of Sparta, will present a considerable challenge to the advanced player wishing to restore the famous city state to its former glory.”

There’s also going to be a limited run of Collector’s Editions available. The 22,000 individually numbered copies are chock-full of goodies, including a Tabula set, a set of Tesserae dice, a copy of the Total War Cards: Punic Wars card game, a canvas campaign map, as well as a fully-functional Roman siege catapult kit. The Collector’s Edition comes at a price, though: $154.99. Still, if you’re a hardcore fan of the series, and love Ancient Rome, you might just want to pick this up.
