New PS3 Firmware 3.61 Is Live Alongside Network Restoration

Sony has just rolled out a new PlayStation 3 firmware update that is mandatory upon returning your system to the network. Firmware version 3.61 is now live, and all players will be required to download it before having any action with the network when it is restored in their specific region.

Players will be required to change their PSN passwords upon completing the download and signing in to the network. Of course, to do this the network will have to be restored. For those of you who haven’t purchased anything from the PlayStation Store, an email will be sent to the address registered with the PSN account and it will contain directions to enable the new password and sign back into the network.

The PSN has now begun worldwide restoration, and the network is slowly coming back online along with special Sony services. Of course the restoration of the network will be phased, which you can read about here for up-to-date information.
