Brink launched into a sea of mixed reviews from renowned companies across the board. Because of that, Bethesda and Splash Damage have been flooding the game with constant updates and add-ons, hoping to make the game a friendlier title to play. Bethesda just recently announced that the game will be getting some DLC this coming June, and it will come free of charge.
The download will apparently consist of additional maps, and some other “new content” that is unspecified. Players could possibly be looking at additional loadouts, and possibly a new gametype, but this is just speculation as nothing has been confirmed other than the price.
Brink has, however, received an update for its Xbox 360 version that is now live. The update will cap the number of human players when matchmaking in “Campaign” and “freeplay” modes. This will allow for a max allotment of eight human players total, which Splash Damage believes will lead to better connections between players and reduce the lot of lag that many players have been experiencing. This does mean that 8v8 matches will be eliminated, but “for players who haven’t been [experiencing] lag, we’ll still support 8v8 on all maps via a new ‘Big Teams’ configuration in Freeplay, and through custom settings in Private matches.”
The PC version of Brink received a brand new update as well, containing a load of fixes which many of went out in the day-one patch for the game on consoles. The matchmaking update will go live on the PS3 as soon as the network has been fully restored.
