Ghostbusters. Now that’s a name that will take you back a few decades. I loved the movies when I was a kid, even if I wasn’t quite born when the first one came out. Nevertheless, I’ve enjoyed the movies, and longed for another sequel. While we’ve long heard rumors of Ghostbusters In Hell, we’ve finally gotten our first confirmation that a sequel is in the works. Only this time it’s a video game.
Vivendi Games will be behind the new title, with a script that has apparently been cooked up by Dan Ackroyd. All four of your favorite Ghostbusters will be returning to lend their voices and likenesses to the game. It will take place roughly in 1991 and will feature a more successful, if not jaded Peter, Ray, Winston and Egon.
The game really has a lot going for it. First, you’ve got a ton of people who’ve been chomping at the bit for a Ghostbusters sequel. Then toss in the return of all four main characters to do voice-overs. Combine that with some stellar graphics and you have the makings of a hit game. It’ll be next year before we actually see this title hitting stores, but I have a feeling it will be well worth the wait. After all, we’ve been waiting since 1989. What’s another year?
